About Yun Kyong Kim
Concert organist Yun Kyong Kim is in great demand as a solo organ recitalist, and is passionate about bringing programs of diverse musical interest to her audiences. Concert reviewers have described her as "a splendid keyboard soloist" (Dayton Daily News) and that she "plays with great sensitivity and with great élan" (The Diapason). She received her doctoral degree in organ performance from Indiana University, and is a prize winner at both regional and national competitions in organ performance sponsored by the American Guild of Organists. She has also studied and performed in North Germany and France, and made her French debut in Paris at Sainte-Clotilde in 1997.
Recent engagements have included solo performances at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.; performing arts series at Ohio University and Miami University; and as a featured recitalist at two national conventions of the Organ Historical Society and at the Region V Convention of the American Guild of Organists. Her performances have been broadcast on Seattle Public Radio's From the Organ Loft program and on Dayton Public Radio.
Yun is past dean of the Dayton Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, and has served on the faculty of the Pipe Organ Encounter at Ohio University, and has chaired the Dayton Church Music Workshop. She is instructor of organ and harpsichord at Sinclair Community College and serves as organist and choirmaster at Christ Episcopal Church in Dayton, Ohio.
In 2005, her debut CD entitled Pops & Pipes! was released nationally through the Organ Historical Society and the Gothic Catalogs, featuring the world premiere recordings of the complete organ transcription of Saint-Saëns' Carnival of the Animals. Her latest CD Of Another Time, recorded on the historic 1920 Austin organ in St. Mary's Church in Dayton, Ohio, has been released on the MSR Classics label. The disc received "four stars" from Audiophile Audition and was named Recording of the Month in September 2011 by MusicWeb International.
