Call for Search Committee Members

Early in 2011, the cathedral vestry initiated a strategic planning process. The skills, experience and characteristics wanted in a new dean were identified during that process. The congregation is now ready to begin a search for a dean that meets the criteria. Members of the congregation were invited to submit names of suitable candidates for the search committee by December 18. The criteria spelled out below will be used in considering each of the individuals nominated to serve. The names of those eventually appointed to the search committee will be announced on February 26 at the annual congregational meeting. The search will likely last 8 to 18 months.

The members serving on the search committee need to have, collectively, a set of practical skills and personal characteristics, as well as reflect the diversity of the cathedral membership. Key characteristics for every search committee member, however, include membership and active church attendance; regular financial contributions; the ability to maintain confidentiality; teamwork skills; a willingness and ability to put in the time needed; and a firm commitment to racial, gender, lifestyle and socio-economic diversity.

Please note that vestry members, their spouses or other close household members are not eligible. (Two vestry members will sit on the committee as liaisons.) Once the search committee is called, the search committee and only the search committee will be directing the search.
